One mountaineer killed by rock fall in Kabardino-Balkaria

The body of the perished climber was delivered by helicopter to Nalchik and handed over to the investigators; the remaining two unharmed group members will descended on foot by themselves.

On July 11, rescuers came to help a group of climbers from Saint Petersburg, who got under a rock fall in the Cherek District.

"A mountaineer from Saint Petersburg, born in 1961, was fatally injured. Rescuers used a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) to transport the body to Nalchik," the website of the MfE of Kabardino-Balkaria has reported, adding that the man received a trauma and died of blood loss. In total, there were four mountaineers in the group. The head thereof flew with the body, the other two climbers decided to go down on their own, the "Izvestia.78" reports.
