Georgian President's son-in-law wounded in Tbilisi

Tonight, an armed attack was committed on Mindiya Gogochuri, a son-in-law of the Georgian President; he was taken to hospital with wounds.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported this was not the first armed attack on Mindiya Gogochuri. On January 11, he was wounded in central of Tbilisi. In the context of the attack, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has opened a criminal case on an intentional infliction of minor harm to one's health, and illegal arms circulation (Articles 108 and 266 of the Criminal Code of Georgia accordingly).

The tonight's attack on Mindiya Gogochuri and his hospitalization were reported by the "Rustavi 2" TV Channel, which has added that the MIA has begun investigating the incident.

Gogochuri is in an unregistered marriage with the First Lady's daughter. In the summer of 2016, his home was searched; the MIA then explained that they were investigating the case on illegal acquisition, storage and carrying firearms; within which legal searches were conducted in homes of three persons, including Mindiya Gogochuri. In March 2017, Anna Margvelashvili, a President's daughter, said that agents of the State Security Service SSS) were shadowing her family, and policemen had allegedly planted drugs on a family's friend, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
