Сoordinator of Navalny's office fined by 150,000 roubles

Today, the court has pronounced the decision to fine Ivan Tansky, a coordinator of the Alexei Navalny's office in Stavropol, 150,000 roubles for organizing an unsanctioned action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 29, the police drew up an administrative violation protocol against Ivan Tansky for organizing an unsanctioned action against the pension system reform planned by the Russian authorities.

According to the pension reform bill, it is proposed to raise the retirement age for men from 60 to 65 years, and for women – from 55 to 63 years.

Today, the Leninsky District Court has pronounced the decision on a fine under Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a rally), the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by an official of the Court.

During the court session, the defence pointed out to the fact that the decision of the Stavropol administration to ban the rally was illegal, since it did not contain any alternative proposal to provide other places and time for the event, Ivan Tansky told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The Court dismissed our arguments and stated that we misunderstood the law," Ivan Tansky said.

He noted that the fine of 150,000 roubles was a "serious punishment," but "it could have been even more severe."
