A tractor driver got buried under sand and stones in a quarry in Chiatura District of Georgia; he died on the spot, the police have reported.

The accident occurred on June 28. The 32-year-old man got employed to work in the quarry in the village of Darkveti, owned by a private company, about two weeks ago. During the collapse, he was in the tractor.

Rescuers took out his body after clearing the avalanche, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel has stated.

In March, the law on labour safety was adopted in Georgia; however, trade unionists state that it fails to meet international standards.
