Ingush Ombudsman appeals to FSB about refusal to give out Ibragim Aliev's body

For more than a week, relatives of Ibragim Aliev killed after his detention cannot get his body for burial, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports today. According to the HRC, the law enforcement bodies have not yet responded to the Ombudsman's letter concerning the problem.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on June 8, law enforcers searched a house of Ibragim Aliev, a 29-year-old resident of Nazran. According to his relatives, the law enforcers beat the man and taken him away with them to some unknown destination. The family members of Ibragim Aliev were informed that he was killed when he tried to escape, but his body was not given out to the relatives. The family members of the killed man told rights defenders that a grenade and an improvised explosive device (IED) found during a search were planted on Ibragim Aliev.

Today, the Ibragim Aliev's relatives have again appealed to the HRC "Memorial". They report that till present, the body of Ibragim Aliev is not given out to his family members for burial. According to Sultan Aliev, an Ibragim's cousin, all appeals to the official bodies do not bring any result so far.

Staff members of the Ombudsman's Office report they sent a letter to the FSB Department for Ingushetia concerning the refusal to give out the Ibragim Aliev's body to his relatives. However, till present, no response has been received.
