Azerbaijani activist released after detention

Azerbaijani oppositionist Rufat Bakhshibeili was released. In Baku, law enforcers demanded from him to remove his critical posts in the social network.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17, associates of Rufat Bakhshibeili, an activist of the "Musavat" Party, reported his detention after a search in his rented apartment in Baku suburbs. The whereabouts of the opposition activist after his detention remained unknown. His collegues assumed that law enforcers could detain the activist because of his publications on the Facebook.

After the activist's detention, law enforcers gave him his seized phone and demanded from him to remove his posts on Facebook, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mustafa Gadjibeili, the editor-in-chief of the "Bastainfo".

"Rufat Bakhshibeili called us and said that he was released. It turned out that he was kept in an on duty police station during all night. He did not give any further details and only added that he had not been tortured," Mustafa Gadjibeili said.
