Armenian observers exclude threat from new Azerbaijani combat points

Armenian positions remain on Mount Gyunnyut, the capture of which Azerbaijan has claimed; there were no battles in this region, the Armenian observers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have stated. The experts believe that the new combat points can not create new threats; it is just an Azerbaijani attempt to distract Armenia from Karabakh to Nakhichevan direction.

On June 8, Baku announced the restoration of control over the village of Gyunnyut. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh accused Azerbaijan of disinformation.

The control over the heights in the vicinity of Gyunnyut gave the Azerbaijani Army a strategic advantage in the event of a new war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani military experts believe.

Stepan Safaryan, a political observer, has treated the Baku's statement as propaganda. According to his version, in the neutral territory, only ruins of several houses remained from the village.

"There is no evidence that Azerbaijani positions have ousted Armenian ones," he said, adding that other heights, claimed to be under control of Azerbaijan, are located in the territory of Nakhichevan, and Baku has been controlling it for 20 years.

Judging by the photos, Azerbaijani units advanced in their own territory, said Grant Mikaelyan, a political analyst.

Levon Ovsepyan, a Turkologist, believes that in the war in Nakhichevan, Azerbaijan can be assisted by Turkey.
