Head of Armenia's Investigating Committee resigns

Agvan Ovsepyan, the head of the Investigating Committee of Armenia, has announced his resignation, not specifying the reason, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to Mr Ovsepyan, for the past four years since the establishment of the Investigating Committee, it has become a well-established structure. He has thanked his subordinates for their work, urging them "to continue responsibly carrying out their duties for the good of the country and the justice," Sona Truzyan, an adviser to Agvan Ovsepyan, wrote in her Facebook.

Ovsepyan has promised to continue his "active creative, scientific, pedagogical and social activities."

On June 5, Arman Mkrtumyan, the Chairman of the Court of Cassation of Armenia, resigned, explaining his resignation by the desire to give way to young people. On the following day, Vagram Shaginyan, the head of the Special Investigating Service of Armenia, also announced his decision to leave the post, stating that he "found it inexpedient to continue working in the current circumstances."
