The man killed in the shootout in the Tsumadin District of Dagestan has been identified as the leader of the "Tsumadin" grouping of militants, the Russian National Antiterrorist Centre (NAC) reports.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", early this morning, law enforcers announced a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in the Tsumadin District of Dagestan. The CTO regime was introduced in the district for the second time this year.

In the course of the CTO, law enforcers found a militant, who refused to lay down his arms, started a shootout, and was shot dead.

"He was pre-identified as the leader of the 'Tsumadin' gang," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the NAC's statement.

According to the NAC, ammunition and weapons were found in the place of the armed clash. There are no victims among law enforcers and civilians.

The casualty is Shamil Aliev, 28, a native of the Stavropol Territory and a resident of the village of Kvanada, the resource named "Operative Line" supporting law enforcers asserts.
