68 citizens of Georgia deported from Europe

On May 9, 68 Georgian citizens, who illegally stayed on the territory of four EU countries, returned home from German Düsseldorf, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports. All the deported people applied for asylum in the EU countries, but were refused.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March, the German MIA announced the restriction of the reception of refugees from Georgia, since the country became safe. The Georgian and German MIAs signed agreements on the prevention of illegal entries of people under visa-free regime.

Out of 68, five people returned on their own, the MIA reports.

In almost all cases, asylum-seekers from Georgia pointed to the difficult social and economic situation in their home country. They stayed in the migration camps of Europe for several months till the consideration of their applications, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reports.

In addition to Germany, Georgia was recognized as a safe country by the authorities of Israel, Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Austria, Iceland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The above means that they positively assess the situation with human rights in Georgia and in an accelerated manner consider applications for asylum to Georgian citizens, the "News-Georgia" reports.
