RPA refuses to cooperate with Nikol Pashinyan

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), which has the majority of seats in the Parliament, declares itself to be the opposition, reported Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice Speaker of the Parliament, after Nikol Pashinyan had been elected the Prime Minister of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, with the second attempt, the People's Assembly of Armenia has elected Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the opposition "Civil Contract" Party and the "Elk" bloc faction, the Prime Minister. He was supported by 59 MPs, while 42 others voted against him.

RPA members will not work in the government to be formed by new Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, reported Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, a member of the RPA's executive body.

"Delegates of the RPA will not join the government. We are a party with ideology and principles, and we cannot enter the government, being an opposition party. Since that moment, our party is in the opposition. We will work for the benefit of Artsakh (the self-name of Nagorno-Karabakh, – note of the 'Caucasian Knot'), Armenia, national and state interests of the country," announced Eduard Sharmazanov as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".
