Opposition associates Bidzina Ivanishvili's return with a split in "Georgian Dream"

Bidzina Ivanishvili, a founder of the "Georgian Dream" Party, has agreed to lead the party to save it from split. This opinion was voiced by opposition politicians and political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgian Prime Minister and the chairman of the ruling "Georgian Dream" Party, has announced that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, agreed to the offer to head the party he founded.

Members of the Georgian opposition emphasize that during all the time, despite his statement about leaving politics, Bidzina Ivanishvili informally led his party.

"Bidzina Ivanishvili never left politics. He was an informal leader and ruled from behind the scenes. And now he is forced to step out of the shadow," said Roman Gotsiridze, the chairman of the "United National Movement" faction in the Georgian Parliament.

The MP has also mentioned that when resigning as the Prime Minister, Bidzina Ivanishvili promised to return to politics in a very deep crisis in the country. According to Roman Gotsiridze, the today's decision made by Bidzina Ivanishvili partly confirms the existence of the crisis.

The decision of the "Georgian Dream" Party can be welcomed, since the Bidzina Ivanishvili's informal rule negatively affected the authority and the rating of the country, believes Manana Nachkebiya, one of the leaders of the non-parliamentary opposition "New Right-Wing Party". Being the head of his party, Bidzina Ivanishvili will be able to officially take part in the personnel policy and party activities, Manana Nachkebiya notes.
