ICRF discloses details of CTO in Dagestan

Investigators have told that three people were killed in a shootout in Derbent while checking documents, six more – in a blocked house after refusing to lay down their arms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 21, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) announced that nine militants were killed in the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Derbent, and one special troop fighter was wounded. According to the NAC, the killed militants had prepared to commit a terror act on the May Day holiday.

According to investigators, on April 21, in Suleiman Stalsky Lane in Derbent, policemen stopped three men to check documents. "They opened automatic fire and were liquidated on the spot by law enforcers' response fire. No law enforcers or civilians were hurt during the clash," the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported.

According to the ICRF, the casualties have been pre-identified: all of them are residents of Dagestan.

On the same day, in a house in Sirenevaya Street in Derbent, law enforcers blocked a house with six people inside armed with firearms, investigators have reported.

"They refused to lay down their arms and surrender to the authorities, and were neutralized during the shootout. One of law enforcers was wounded; there are no victims among civilians," the ID's website reports today.
