Muslims and Christians celebrate Pesach holiday together in Dagestani synagogue

Residents of Derbent, who profess different religions, maintain friendly relations. This has been told to the "Caucasian Knot" by members of the Jewish community of the city. Throughout Northern Caucasus, Jews do not face any manifestations of anti-Semitism, said Levi Shabaev, Chief Rabbi for the Southern Federal District (SFD).

Earlier, members of the Jewish community in Volgograd have complained about the anti-Semitic attacks of local politicians.

Pyotr Malinsky, the secretary for the board of the Jewish community in Derbent, has said that Jews peacefully coexist in the city with people who profess other religions.

An attempt on a rabbi is a "single case" and it does not prove any conflict between Muslims and members of the Jewish community in Derbent, said a synagogue believer.

On the contrary, in the Southern Federal District, manifestations of anti-Semitism are not rare. So, in August 2013, in Volgograd, unidentified people threw stones at the kindergarten belonging to the Jewish community of the city.
