Volgograd police consider anti-corruption poster as inappropriate for a mourning action

On March 27, in Volgograd, a rally was organized by the authorities in memory of the victims killed by a fire in Kemerovo. A policeman demanded from participants to hide anti-corruption posters, activist Roman Zaitsev reported.

The fire at the "Winter Cherry" shopping and entertainment complex in Kemerovo began in the afternoon on March 25, and it was not possible to extinguish it until the other day. The fire killed 64 people, including 13 children. According to eyewitnesses, the fire alarm in the building failed, and people had to get evacuated on their own.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27, eight Volgograd residents held solo pickets and stated that the tragedy in Kemerovo was provoked by corruption and negligence of officials. On the same day, two more mourning events were held in Volgograd. One of them was organized by the authorities in Komsomol Garden, and the second was held by the local office of Alexei Navalny. More than 100 people came to it, no detentions or provocations occurred.

Volgograd activist Roman Zaitsev, who on March 27 observed solo pickets, attended an action held in the Komsomol Garden.

"We came there with posters reading: 'The corruption regime is killing our children'." According to the activist, a policeman approached them and requested them to hide the poster. "The policeman said that the poster failed to comply with the subject of the event. While we were holding a discussion, the event finished. I removed the poster. The event lasted only half an hour, and we also left the place," the activist said.
