Chechen archaeologist raises over 30,000 roubles for preservation of Khyeldi Towers

On January 18, an archaeologist from Chechnya announced raising money for restoration of the Khyeldi Towers that were not included in the list of the objects to be restored. This was reported by a message received by the "Caucasian Knot" through WhatsApp.

At the platform "Planeta.ru", which raises funds for the project, archaeologist Sultan Isaev has indicated in the description that the money will be spent on cleaning and landscaping around the Khyeldi Towers, as well as on laying a hiking trail around the castle complex consisting of several combat and one residential towers in the village of Khyeldi.

"In Chechnya, there are many combat and residential towers that are under threat of complete destruction. Some of the cultural heritage items have been restored in recent years. The Khyeldi Towers are not included in the list of the objects to be restored because of a lack of a road for transportation of building materials. In the project of restoration works, no money is allocated to construct such a road," Sultan Isaev writes.

In the process of the work, it is planned to draw up a detailed plan of the object with detailed descriptions and drawings, on the basis of which a project for the object restoration will be developed. In the future, it is planned to seek inclusion of the complex in the list of objects to be restored or to obtain permission for conservation works at the object, the fundraiser noted.

As of March 1, 30,685 roubles are raised, while the project requires 150,000 roubles. Fundraising will be stopped in 18 days.
