Migrants' picket in Moscow evokes Evkurov's anger

Today, a group of forced migrants from Chechnya has held a picket outside the State Duma in Moscow, complaining about Ingush officials because of problems with obtaining housing. The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, accused the picketers of trying to "swing the situation", saying that Ingush authorities are trying to solve their problems.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2013, authorities of Ingushetia began evicting Chechen forced migrants from temporary accommodation centres (TACs) in Karabulak, where they had lived since 1999. The court granted the administration's lawsuit and ruled to evict TAC residents by force. Some migrants, facing problems when extending their status of forced migrants and obtaining housing certificates, complained about authorities' indifference; several times they went on hunger strikes.

The picketers at the State Duma on February 14 appealed to MPs from Ingushetia, demanding from them to pay attention to housing problems of forced migrants.

Yunus-Bek Evkurov has reacted to the Moscow picket and ordered the Security Council of Ingushetia to deal with the "politicized action aimed at swinging the situation in the republic, to establish all the participants, to study their motives, and to find out who stands behind them."
