222 NKR families receive 4000 US dollars each for the birth of fourth child

The "Tashir" Charitable Fund has granted 4000 US dollars to the families, into which the fourth child was born in 2017.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, 2017, 213 families received 4000 US dollars each.

The ceremony of granting checks for USD 4000 and three car certificates was held on February 3 in Stepanakert.

The money will be awarded in the following years, as such actions contribute to demographic growth, Narek Karapetyan, a representative of the above Fund, has stated.

"Families with many children are the basis of the society; therefore it's more correct to say that we are repaying our debts to these families," Mr Karapetyan has added.

According to his story, "every family may spend the money on its own discretion."

The support programmes for large families affect the growth of birth rate, said Samvel Avanesyan, the Minister of Social Protection of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

In the NKR, within the programme aimed at improving the demography, each family receives 100,000 drams at the birth of the first child; 200,000 drams – for the second one; 500,000 drams – for the third one; and 700,000 drams for the fourth and every subsequent child (under the exchange rate of February 3, one US dollar = 482 drams). For families with five or more minor children, the authorities build or buy housing facilities, the press service of the NKR's government has stated.
