Residents of Chechnya see pretence in authorities' help to long-liver

The authorities of Chechnya have reported the delivery of keys from a new house to 104-year-old Madina Alieva, who was found in Azerbaijan. Local residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have suggested that the Chechen authorities use the story of the elderly woman for self-promotion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, the woman found in the Goranboy District of Azerbaijan was sent to Grozny from the shelter "Mother Teresa's Sisters" at the Catholic Church in Baku.

On December 23, 2017, the police found the helpless woman 400 kilometres west of Baku. The woman introduced herself as Madina Alieva, a native of Dagestan and an ethnic Chechen. However, the Azerbaijani and Russian authorities could not identify the woman in short term. The woman did not explain how she found herself in the Goranboy District. She expressed her desire to leave for Chechnya after Ramzan Kadyrov had promised to help her.

Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from an official of the Chechen Ministry of Labour that the authorities of Chechnya have allocated to Madina Alieva a new house of over 100 square meters in the Oktiabrsky District of Grozny.

According to the official from the Chechen Ministry of Labour, the money to purchase the house for Madina Alieva was allocated by the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation.

While recognizing the merits of the republic's authorities in solving the problems of needy people, local observers have noted that almost all of those cases are made public.

"As far as I know, Islam does not approve when a person does something for show. The person's left hand should not know what the right is giving to a needy. Any good deed should be performed in the name of Allah and with the hope of Allah's mercy, and not to surprise people and provoke their admiration," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aslan, an NGO member.
