On January 8-14, 2018, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of January 8-14, 2018, no victims to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were registered. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Bombings and terror acts

At 2:30 a.m. Moscow time on January 8, in Nazran, a grenade was thrown into a yard of a house in Tsoroev Street, where parents of Magomed Khazbiev lived. During the explosion, elderly parents of Magomed Khazbiev and his family members stayed in the house, including his wife and four minor children, with the youngest of four months old. None of the family members was injured by the explosion. As a result of the explosion, a Mercedes car parked in the yard was completely burnt down, and another car was badly damaged by shrapnel. Besides, the entrance doors of the house were severely damaged by grenade fragments, and the wall of the house was heavily scratched by fragments. The fire started and it was extinguished with the help of neighbours. Magomed Khazbiev, a member of the movement "Mekhk-Khel", has been under state protection in Chechnya since 2015 due to the fact that, according to the oppositionist, several attempts of assassination were committed against him.

Detentions

On January 7, it became known that in the village of Avtury, all the men from the family of Khamzat Baimuradov, suspected of killing the police chief and shot dead during his detention, were detained. Relatives of Khamzat Baimuradov were forbidden to hold a mourning ceremony.

On January 12, 14 people were brought to the ROVD (District Interior Division) as a result of preventive measures conducted near the mosque located in Omarov Street. There were at least 30 policemen, and they stood in two places: at petrol station and at a corner of the street. They stopped pedestrians and drivers. The policemen claimed they were conducting preventive measures to find weapons and drugs. All the detainees were released after verification of their IDs.

On January 13, law enforcers detained Nurmagomed Taimasov, a resident of the Dagestani village of Gubden, after finding ammunition in his house. According to his relatives, the law enforcers conducted searches in two houses of Nurmagomed Taimasov: in one house, there was nobody at the time of the search, and only women stayed in the other house. The law enforcers took keys for the first floor from the men's female relatives and went there, and then they found ammunition. The relatives associate the law enforcers' interest in Nurmagomed Taimasov with the fact that he is a Salafi, and his father was killed during a special operation in Gubden in 2012. The relatives insist that Nurmagomed Taimasov was not engaged in anything illegal. The man provided services of electrician to the villagers, and he cared of wife, mother and younger brother, depending on him.
