Ten families receive compensations after fire in Batumi hotel

The bosses of the "Leogrand" Hotel have paid compensations to relatives of ten residents of Georgia, who perished in the fire, an advocate of the hotel owner has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the fire in the Batumi "Leogrand" Hotel occurred in the evening on November 24, 2017. According to the Georgian police, 11 people perished and 21 others were hospitalized.

To date, lump sum compensations have been paid to the families of all the ten citizens in Georgia who perished in the fire, Kakha Tsereteli, an advocate for the hotel, said today. "They received both lump sum compensations and help to casualties' children until they reach adulthood; their training will be paid for should they enter higher schools," the "InterPressNews" quotes the advocate as saying.

Mr Tsereteli has added that negotiations about compensation to the family of one more casualty, a citizen of Iran, are almost over, the "Georgia-Online" reports.

The advocate did not specify the sums, but relatives of several victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported that they had concluded agreements to receive 50,000 US dollars per family, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
