Permanent Mission of Kalmykia demands apologies from "TNT" TV Channel

On December 25, Baatr Lidjiev, the deputy head of the Kalmykia's Permanent Mission under the President, suggested the TV series which showed a Buddhist statuette with an attached statuette of a naked woman had offended the believers' feelings.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the period from December 10 to 14, agents of the "Comedy Club Production" Company and TNT actors four times publicly apologized to residents of Ingushetia for a scene, where an actress played an escort service agency girl. The show provoked indignation of spectators. Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov considered such numerous apologies to be excessive.

According to Baatr Lidjiev, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kalmykia under the President of Russia got "numerous appeals" from residents of the republic, who expressed their indignation about an episode of the TNT "Streets" series.

"In their dialogue, young people use a Buddhist statuette to which a statuette of a naked woman is attached. Meanwhile, they allow incorrect comparisons and move to the verge of permissible concept by desecrating the shrine," Baatr Lidjiev said.

"We ask the top managers of the 'TNT' TV Channel to apologize to the believers and remove the episode from the series. Otherwise, we reserve the right to appeal to the judiciary and law enforcement bodies," Baatr Lidjiev stated as quoted by the RIA "Kalmykia".

Let us remind you that in July 2016, the court in Elista found Dagestani athlete Said Osmanov guilty of desecrating the statue of Buddha and inciting ethnic hatred.
