Authorities explain appointment of Kadyrov as chief of Grozny police

Junior Lieutenant Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, appointed in November the chief of the Grozny Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), "put an end to the drug business in Chechnya" when he headed the Drugs Control Department. This has been stated today by Zhambulat Umarov, Chechen Minister for National Policy.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 8, it became known that Khas-Magomed Kadyrov had been appointed the chief of the MIA's Department for Grozny. Prior to his appointment, for over a month, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov headed the Chechen MIA's Drugs Control Department.

"Kadyrov, who heads the police in the rank of Junior Lieutenant, will be able to do what some generals failed to. The guy practically put an end to the drug business in the Chechen Republic and put public order in the city," Djambulat Umarov, Chechen Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information, has explained the appointment of Khas-Magomed Kadyrov.

According to the Minister, the Chechen Republic "relies on young, intelligent, faithful guys who will show results on the lines of Ramzan Kadyrov."

Meanwhile, when asked whether Khas-Magomed Kadyrov is a namesake or a relative of the Chechen leader, Djambulat Umarov has replied that "all of them are namesakes and brothers."
