Giyas Ibragimov stops contacting his relatives

Activist Giyas Ibragimov, sentenced after graffiti appeared on the pedestal of the monument to Heidar Aliev, has never called his relatives during a week, and on November 29, he was not brought to trial on the case of insulting judges. That fact alarmed relatives of the sentenced activist and his advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25, 2016, Giyas Ibragimov was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on the charge of illegal drug trafficking. Meanwhile, activist Bairam Mamedov was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment under the same charge.

The Yasamal District Court of Baku is to consider the case on the contempt of the court shown by relatives of Giyas Ibragimov. The hearing scheduled for November 29 was postponed to December 6, since Giyas Ibragimov was not brought to court, advocate Elchin Sadygov reported.

Shura Amiraslanova, the mother of the activist, is very concerned over the fact that he was not brought to the court.

The advocate believes it is clear that the case against the activist and his father has been fabricated.
