Kuban residents detained for illegal catching dolphins

The caught dolphins were kept in awful conditions, the Branch of the Russian Frontier Service for the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the major river) has reported.

A group of local residents has illegally delivered Black Sea dolphins to a private dolphinarium. Now, according to border guards, animals are out of danger; and veterinary doctors are taking care of them.

Three dolphins were taken away from poachers, the "Interfax" reports, adding noting that the price of a dolphin may exceed 3 million roubles.

The poachers may face up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of up to 500,000 roubles, the TASS reports.
