Meydan TV: Azerbaijani children join the ranks of IS' minor captives

The authorities have started recognizing the problem of exporting children from Azerbaijan to the territory controlled by the terrorist grouping "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in the Russian Federation by the court); however, quite a lot of intensive work is needed to solve the problem. This was reported by the Meydan TV, which had studied the problem of "minor IS' captives", taking Azerbaijani families as an example.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 12 a three-year-old boy, found in a Baghdad shelter, was brought to Baku. His relatives were found by Azerbaijani authorities.

After that, Elmar Mamedyarov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Internal Affairs admitted that there are more than 100 women and children from Azerbaijan in Iraq.

"According to official data, about 900 citizens of Azerbaijan have tried to join the IS during the past 5 years... and not only young men, but also their wives and mothers, who had abandoned their husbands," says the material of the Meydan TV.

According to a resident of the city of Khyrdalan, in April 2014, his wife left home with two daughters.

The man does not understand how women manage to transport their children across the border without the consent of their fathers. This makes him suspect that "organization of families' departures is not only the business of IS' recruiters, but also of Azerbaijani officials."

Ilkham Ismail, a former employee of the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan, which was abolished in 2015, has told about the MNS' corruption scheme, which assumed assisting IS' recruiters for bribes.

Basically, as he said, natives of Saudi Arabia acted as recruits in Azerbaijan.
