Film by Georgian director receives three awards at international festival

Three awards of the International Film Festival in Gijon (Spain) were granted to Anna Urushadze's film "Scary Mother".

The film became the winner in the following nominations: "Best Director" (Anna Urushadze), "Best Operator" (Konstantin Mindadze) and "Best Film", having received an award from the Youth Jury, the "News-Georgia" reports.

The "Scary mother" is a story of a 50-year-old housewife Manana, who decided to devote herself to writing. She faces a dilemma: to do her favourite business, a passion that she had suppressed for many years, or the family, the "kinopoisk.ru" reports.

The film has been nominated from Georgia for the Oscar in the nomination "Best Film in a Foreign Language". He has already won the prize as the best feature film at the International Film Festival in Egypt, became the winner of the 70th International Film Festival in Locarno, and also won the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) (the so-called "Asian Oscar") for the best director's solution and the best female role, the "apsny.ru" writes.

The Gijon International Film Festival was founded in 1963.
