In Chechnya, cars massively impounded

In Chechnya, law enforcers carry out large-scale raids on the eve of Grozny's Day and place cars to impoundment lots even for minor violations of traffic rules.

Starting from September 29, enhanced police squads check cars at the entrances and exits from Grozny and other cities, as well as on the major motorways of Chechnya. They focus their attention on tinting on car windows. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vakhid, a resident of Grozny.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya, in the period from September 29 to October 7, security measures are enhanced in connection with the October 5 celebrations on the occasion of Grozny Day, the Chechen Youth Day and the Teacher's Day. Besides, on the same day, the birthday of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is celebrated.

A Chechen MIA's official has confirmed that large-scale raids are underway to detect violations of traffic rules.

Similar raids took place in Chechnya a year ago, starting from September 28, 2016.

Only for the first day of the raids, law enforcers have identified more than 250 violators of traffic rules, noted the Chechen MIA's official.

Law enforcers demand to remove all kinds of tinting, despite its light-transmitting capacity, reported Sultan, a resident of Argun.

According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, a motor vehicle can be temporary seized from an owner only in certain cases, for example, in case when a driver is in a state of alcoholic intoxication, reported a staff member of the Chechen Bar Association.
