Chechen authorities deny information about IS member Tagirov's return to Russia

Khasan Tagirov, a native of Chechnya, detained in Iraq, is kept in prison in Baghdad and will be brought to trial in accordance with the Iraqi laws. This was reported by the administration of the Chechen leader.

On September 17, the media released the information that Khasan Tagirov, a native of Chechnya, was returned to Russia. "In August, Khasan Tagirov was found seriously wounded in Mosul and returned to Russia," the "Echo Moskvy" reports with reference to the press service for Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

The authorities of Chechnya do not intend to assist militants of terrorist organizations banned in Russia in their return to their homeland, stated an employee of the apparatus of the head and government of the republic.

"Khasan Tagirov was met by Ziyad Sabsabi, a representative of the Chechen leader, who took his four-year-old son home to Chechnya. Khasan Tagirov himself regrets his actions and warns others not to repeat his mistake. According to the Iraqi laws, he is likely to be sentenced to a long term of imprisonment or death penalty," said the official from the administration of the Chechen leader.

A source from the Chechen law enforcement agencies has also noted that in February 2016, Khasan Tagirov was put on the international wanted list.

According to the Chechen law enforcement agencies, up to 700 natives of Chechnya can stay among the militants of the terrorist organization IS, banned in Russia.
