German law enforcers suspect Chechen native of involvement in IS

A Russian citizen of Chechen origin was detained in Germany on suspicion of involvement in the banned terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS). This was reported by the Hamburg General Prosecutor's Office.

According to Nana Frombakh, the spokesperson for the Hamburg General Prosecutor's Office, the 28-year-old man is accused of becoming a member of the IS during his stay in Syria, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

On September 13, the man was detained in the city of Bremen, the Deutsche Welle-Russian reports with reference to the Bremen newspaper Weser-Kurier. Last year, the secret services checked the information stating that Chechens from Bremen participated in hostilities in Syria on the side of terrorists.
