Activists detained in Yerevan for disseminating leaflets

Today, in Republic Square in Yerevan, policemen detained six activists, who were spreading leaflets with information about the leader of Armenian opposition.

They have detained Ruzanna Egnukyan, the wife of the defendant Karo Egnukyan, accused of helping the “Sasna Tsrer” detachment, and their children Akop, Sime and Elmon, a source from the opposition organization "Constituent Parliament" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, they have also detained Agavni Saakyan and Gegetsik Tonoyan, members of the civil initiative "Armenian Women’s Front".

In the presence of the participants of the Sixth "Armenia-Diaspora" Forum, opened in Yerevan on September 18, the activists spread leaflets about Zhirair Sefilyan, the leader of the movement "Hundred Years Without Regime", and Karo Egnukyan, a member of the "Constituent Parliament".

Zhirair Sefilyan was detained in June 2016 and accused of organizing illegal transportation and storage of weapons, preparing mass riots and the seizure of a police building in Yerevan. His case was combined with that of the “Sasna Tsrer” armed detachment of Sefilyan's supporters, who in July 2016 captured the building of the police regiment and demanded the liberation of their leader.
