Timur Makhauri’s friends doubt his involvement in Shamil Basaev's death (+video)

On September 12, more than 100 people took part in the funeral of Ali Dabuev (Timur Makhauri) in the Pankisi Gorge. People who knew the deceased man denied the version about his involvement in the death of Shamil Basaev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 8, Timur Makhauri, a Georgian citizen and a native of Chechnya, was killed when a car was blown up in the centre of Kiev. In the evening on September 11, his body was delivered to Tbilisi.

"It was decided to bury him in Georgia and not at home in Chechnya to avoid creating problems for his relatives living there," a friend of the deceased man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Internet resources close to the Caucasian armed underground, in 2006, Timur Makhauri took part in the elimination of Shamil Basaev. Sources from the Chechen Diaspora in Turkey suspected that Timur Makhauri, who was under the control of the Russian secret services, could be used unknowingly for him to carry out the operation to eliminate Shamil Basaev.

The assumption about the Timur Makhauri's involvement in the death of Shamil Basaev is groundless, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a friend of Timur Makhauri.

"Timur himself was on good terms with Shamil. They respected each other, and Timur Makhauri was a close person for Shamil Basaev," said the source.
