Social network users criticize return of “political information” lessons to Krasnodar schools

Schoolchildren of all forms, from 1 to 11, of the Krasnodar Territory are obliged to get ready for the so called "informational five-minute sessions" based on news reports of the Russian "First Channel" television, the father of a schoolgirl from the city of Tuapse schools has reported in a social network. The Ministry of Education (MoE) of the Krasnodar Territory has confirmed the innovation. Social network users see it as a return to “political information” lessons of the USSR time.

The topics of "five-minute sessions" were named as follows: "Glory to Russia", "The History Says", "News Week", "We live in Kuban" (Kuban is another name of the Krasnodar Territory by the name of its main river, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) the MoE’s answer says, the "Yugopolis" reports.

"Information five-minute sessions will also cover political events,” Igor Ivannikov, Director of School No. 5 of Tuapse, said on September 5. He believes that they will not interfere with the educational process, the "Echo Moskvy" reports.

"My daughter came from school and said that now they are obliged to watch news programmes of ‘Channel One’ on Sundays and retell them in class on Mondays," the user David-0ff wrote in his Twitter.

He treats the innovation as propaganda and adds that the school director is a city council deputy from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party.
