Suspected militant killed in Azerbaijan

An Azerbaijani citizen, suspected of plotting a terror act, was shot dead in the city of Ismayilly by law enforcers during a special operation carried out on August 27.

The special operation to detain Yashar Ogtai oglu Javadov was conducted by agents of the State Security Service (SSS). According to them, the suspect rendered armed resistance and was killed by return fire.

Yashar Ogtai oglu Javadov was suspected of involvement in armed conflicts and commitment of terror acts abroad. He acquired firearms and explosives, and he was plotting a terror act in Azerbaijan, the news agency APA reports with reference to the information from the SSS Public Relations Department.

During the search in the house where the suspect resided, the SSS agents discovered the documents proving that his activities were financed by a terrorist organization, the "Sputnik-Azerbaijan" reports.
