Armenian activist Karo Yegnukyan refuses to take part in trial against "Sasna Tsrer"
Armenian activist Karo Yegnukyan, accused of aiding and abetting the unit "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), has voiced his fear of violence from escorting wards and drive to the trial.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case against 14 members of the unit "Sasna Tsrer" is being considered since June 8. On June 10, it became known that the case against other 18 "Sasna Tsrer" members was brought to the court. On June 28, before the court session, a clash occurred between the defendants and the policemen. On July 26, the court announced sanctions against three advocates and Karo Yegnukyan.
According to advocate Tigran Airapetyan, Karo Yegnukyan fears that warders and guards will bring him to the trial against his will in execution of the court's order.
Tigran Airapetyan has noted that his client sees the goal of "such a court's policy to humiliate his dignity."
"The convicts are escorted in prison trucks with tight cells, which are stifling in summer." During one of such trips, my client lost consciousness. In court, in the course of the whole trial, they are kept in the basement of the building," the advocate explained.
