Rezo Gigineishvili's film "Hostages" purchased by US HBO TV Channel

The film "Hostages" directed by Rezo Gigineishvili, a Georgian native, has been purchased for screening by the US HBO cable TV Channel. Earlier, the film was awarded at the "Kinotavr" Film Festival.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 10, the film "Hostages" was presented to the audience at the main contest of the Russian "Kinotavr" Film Festival. On June 15, Rezo Gigineishvili got the prize for Best Director.

Earlier, the film "Hostages" has been included in the special programme "Panorama" of the 67th Berlin Film Festival. The film is based on a real history of capture and an attempted hijacking of an aircraft in Tbilisi in 1983.

"Of course, it is of importance that everything that began at the Berlin Film Festival, where a certain attention was paid to the film, got a continuation. Several days ago, an international premiere of the 'Hostages' took place in France. And today, I find out that the film has been purchased by the US HBO TV Channel. We experience unconditional joy from the fact that we get results for our thorny path and our committed attitude to the cause," said Rezo Gigineishvili as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".
