Kuban participants of "tractor march" treat meeting with authorities as ineffective

On August 3, in Krasnodar, Andrei Kikot, Deputy General Prosecutor of Russia, Veniamin Kondratiev, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, and Sergey Tabelsky, Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory, met 12 representatives of farms. This was reported on the same day by the press office of the General Prosecutor's Office.

"Entrepreneurs obtained answers to questions of concern to them about preserving the land plots got by them, ensuring equal conditions for bids for acquisition of land plots, and suppressing the facts of illegal criminal prosecution," reported the General Prosecutor's Office.

In particular, the Prosecutor's Office recognized as illegal the criminal prosecution of Nikolai Starodub, the chief of the agricultural farmstead in the Dinskaya District, reported on its website "Public Television of Russia" (PTR) on August 3.

Today, Alexei Volchenko, the leader of the movement "Polite Farmers", has said that the "tractor march" participants did not give any comments to the media.

"In the report [prepared by the PTR], they are talking about the 'tractor march' participants, but they are showing Pyotr Starodub, who did not take part in the 'tractor march.' No participants of the 'tractor march' appeared before the media," wrote Alexei Volchenko on his page in Facebook.

According to the activist, there were two groups of farmers at the meeting with the authorities. "Some of them those close to the administration spoke to the media and told them that everything was fine, but they had nothing in common with the participants of the 'tractor march.' Our problems, which we have voiced to the President, remain unresolved," said Alexei Volchenko as quoted today by the farm website "Agrobook".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on August 21, 2016, the protesting farmers held a rally and began their so-called “tractor march” to Moscow, but law enforcers interfered, stopped the action and punished the participants with administrative arrests and fines. After their disrupted "tractor march" and a failed attempt to meet President Vladimir Putin, farmers have repeatedly stated the authorities' attempts to suppress the protest movement in the Krasnodar Territory.
