Yerevan: activist holds action in support of "Sasna Tsrer" members

Activist Vardghes Gaspari has demanded from the Armenian Ombudsman's Office to pay attention to the hunger strike declared in prison by Vardan Gheravetyan and Tigran Manukyan, members of the unit "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that on July 22, Vardan Gheravetyan and Tigran Manukyan declared hunger strike with the demand to recognize all persons arrested in the "Sasna Tsrer" case as political prisoners and place them to separate cells in the penal colony "Nubarashen".

On August 3, Vardghes Gaspari lay down on asphalt straight in front of the Armenian Ombudsman's Office. He demanded to pay attention to the detention conditions for prisoners in the penal colony.

In his hands, the activist was holding a portrait of Vardan Gheravetyan with the inscription reading: "Do not allow continuation of violence and pressure to political prisoners."

Vardghes Gaspari has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that his action was encouraged by the hunger strike of the "Sasna Tsrer" members.

According to him, Vardan Gheravetyan and Tigran Manukyan are concerned over the fact that provocative situations are created in the prison in order to set up other prisoners against them.

Vardghes Gaspari has finished the action at the end of the working day.
