Victor Zolotov heads anti-terrorist group in Northern Caucasus

The Russian President has ordered Victor Zolotov, Director of the Federal Service of National Guard Troops (known as “Natsgvardia”), to head the anti-terrorist group in Northern Caucasus and to involve power agents, employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) and the Armed Forces in counterterrorist operations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 9, Vladimir Putin stated that the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, had planned to attack southern regions of the country.

Today, President Putin has signed a decree on improving the command of the joint force group for conducting counterterrorism operations in Northern Caucasus.

The general command of the group will be fulfilled by the Commander-in-Chief of the “Natsgvardia”, the official portal of legal information reports.

The group will involve “Natsgvardia” and Armed Forces, bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), MfE, FSB, FSO, and other federal state agencies, which provide for the military service, the above decree says.
