The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 24, residents of the villages of Khalimbekaul and Kumukh blocked traffic along one of the roads. The protestors let the place after a conversation with policemen. Officials announced that a commission had been created to solve the problem.

According to the protesters, they received water from the Chirkey reservoir through Buynaksk, which was cut off the water supply by the "Vodokanal" because of large debts.

Kamil Isiev, the head of the Buynaksk District, has visited the place where the villages held their protest action. He has explained the protestors that the authorities are taking measures to solve the problem.

"The residents of our villages are provided with drinking water from the Chirkey reservoir water conduit through a common pipe, to which Buynaksk is connected. It turned out that today; the organization that supplies the city with water has a debt for it to the 'Dagvodokanal'. The residents of our district are also affected by the problem. Meanwhile, the villagers regularly pay for water," noted Kamil Iziev.

According to the website of the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office, the disconnection of the water supply is connected with the suppliers' debt for water in the amount of about 60 million roubles.
