Coordinator of Alexei Navalny's office suspected of collage for "Motherland Calls!"
In the case on a photo of the monument "Motherland Calls!" poured with green paint, investigators have changed the status of Alexei Volkov, the coordinator of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny's office in Volgograd, from a witness to a suspect. Alexei Volkov is suspected of rehabilitating Nazism, and he had to sign recognizance not to leave the city.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 12, a search was conducted in the Alexei Volkov's house, as well as in the premises of the Alexei Navalny's office. Investigators seized two laptops and mobile phones. They found that a photo of the monument "Motherland Calls!" poured with green paint was posted on the Internet from a mobile phone or a laptop belonging to Alexei Volkov, the investigators reported.
In March, a photo of the monument "Motherland Calls!" poured with green paint was posted in social networks. For several hours, it was available on the page of the Alexei Navalny's supporters and then it was deleted. On March 24, at the opening of his office in Volgograd, Alexei Navalny apologized for the photo.
On July 20, Alexei Volkov wrote on his Twitter that he became a suspect in the case on rehabilitation of Nazism.
"I visited the Investigating Committee. They changed my status in the case on the picture and informed me that the charge will be filed on July 26," wrote Alexei Volkov.
