Costs of war

Six members of illegal armed formations were destroyed in a special operation in Grozny's Ippodromnyi micro-district on 15 April, the Federal Security Service (FSB) Department for Chechnya said today, according to Novosti news agency. Five FSB officers were killed, too.

A local schoolboy, Makhsud Batayev, triggered a bomb under unclear circumstances in Nozhai-Yurt on 18 April. He died of multiple shrapnel wounds, Interfax says.
