Kremlin announces President Putin's willingness to discuss problems of Chechen gays with Donald Trump

During a meeting with US President Donald Trump, the Russian President is ready to answer a possible question about the persecution in Chechnya of men suspected of non-traditional sexual orientation. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary for the President of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" published the material about mass detentions in Chechnya of men suspected of non-traditional sexual orientation.

Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary for the President of Russia, has not specified to journalists about the essence of the President Putin's answer in case if the issue of gays' persecution is raised.

Today, Tatiana Moskalkova, Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights, has reported that she received an interim response from the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) on verification of the information about the persecution of LGBT community members in Chechnya.

"I received such an answer. According to it, the ICRF has not revealed any facts confirming violent actions against (such) persons, since they do not have specific data concerning those citizens," said the Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights.

Tatiana Moskalkova has emphasized that she got from the ICRF just an interim response, since the repeated request and the letter of the "Novaya Gazeta", which she sent to the ICRF, contain the information about the surnames of people considered deceased, the "Interfax" reports.
