Petya virus blocks Poti Port
The Petya virus has attacked the system of the Danish company Maersk Group, which owns the Poti Port in Georgia.
On June 27, the global attack of the virus-extorter Petya hit the IT systems of companies in several countries, primarily, in Ukraine.
Computers of oil, energy, telecom and pharmaceutical companies, as well as of state bodies were attacked, the "Interfax" reports.
The Poti Port has also fallen victim to the large-scale cyber attack: the virus has practically paralyzed the work of the strategic object. Emergency measures were taken to continue freight transportation – employees of the port had to treat documents manually, the "JAM-News" reports.
In Georgia, the Petya virus "was discovered a few days ago," said David Kvatadze, an official from the Agency for Data Exchange of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. According to his story, the virus blocked access to data. The PC's owner was offered to pay 300 US dollars in BitCoin equivalent for resuming the operation.
