MoD refutes capture of Rostov contract soldier in Ukraine

Victor Ageyev did not pass his military service under a contract in the Rostov Region, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated. Earlier, media wrote that he had been taken prisoner in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 27, the BBC announced hat on June 24, Ukrainian militaries captured four fighters of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic, including Victor Ageyev. According to his mother, after his regular military service, her son served in the Rostov Region under a contract.

"Victor Ageyev has never taken his military service under a contract in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the TASS quotes the MoD's statement.

According to the MoD, in May 2016, after his regular service, Ageyev was dismissed into reserve.
