"Novaya Gazeta" urges Chechen leader to question Ruslan Geremeev on Nemtsov's murder case

On June 21, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" published an appeal to Police General Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya.

"Due to the fact that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the FSB of the Russian Federation, and the court were not able to question Ruslan Geremeev, a resident of the Chechen Republic, residing in the village of Djalka in the Gudermes District, we ask your assistance to ensure that this man well-known for you, as we believe, would answer the questions of key importance to reveal the truth in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder. And we have no doubts that this is of interest for you," states the newspaper's appeal.

In particular, the newspaper's questions to Ruslan Geremeev concern the purposes of his trips and the trips of Zaur Dadaev to Moscow, the residence of the defendants at the apartments bought and rented by Ruslan Geremeev in Moscow and the reasons for the Ruslan Geremeev's departure together with the defendants from the Russian capital immediately after Boris Nemtsov's murder.

"We are ready to publish his [Ruslan Geremeev's] answers in full and without editing," states the "Novaya Gazeta" in its appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. The defendants in the case are the natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia Zaur Dadaev, the brothers Anzor and Shagid (also named by mass media as Shadid) Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev.

The investigators consider Ruslan Mukhudinov to be a person who ordered the murder of Boris Nemtsov. However, according to the Boris Nemtsov's family members, the actual assassin's paymaster should be sought among top-ranking officials of Chechnya.
