Lawyers see low chances for perished girl's mother to receive multimillion compensation

The mother of the girl, who died of dog bites, will not be able to collect the claimed amount of 50 million roubles from the Mayoralty; her claim will most likely be rejected, said Dagestani lawyers.

On February 19, a body of a nine-year-old girl with multiple lacerations was found in Makhachkala. According to the preliminary information of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the child died as a result of dog attacks. In Makhachkala, after the death of the girl, people organized mass shooting of stray animals in the streets and in the yards.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the mother of the 9-year-old schoolgirl, who had died from dog bites, appealed to the Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala. She claims from the Mayoralty a compensation for her moral damage in the amount of 50.1 million roubles.

According to the spokesperson of the above district court, the lawsuit filed by the mother was accepted on June 1.

Arsen Magomedov, the head of the law firm "Magomedov and Partners", has drawn attention, in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, to the fact that Dagestan "has no positive practice of satisfying multi-million claims for compensation of moral harm."

"Even if the parents manage to win the case, the amount of compensation will not be more than 200,000 roubles," Biyakay Magomedov, the legal partner of the Russian Union of Journalists, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that most often "exactly such amounts are collected by courts from perpetrators of causing harm or death."
