Four Dagestani projects presented at Moscow "Intermuseum" festival

In Moscow, the annual festival "Intermuseum" has ended. At the festival, four projects from Dagestan were presented, and one of them was granted an award of the Union of Russian Museums named after L.A. Alexandrova. Museums from Krasnodar and Ingushetia could not take part in the festival because of lack of funding.

The "Intermuseum" is an annual festival that has been held by the Russian Ministry of Culture since 1999. It unites on a single platform more than 300 museums from Russia, CIS countries, and countries of far abroad.

This year, no representatives of the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) took top places at the contest. However, the Museum of the History of Makhachkala was awarded the prize "Museum in the N city..." from the Union of Russian Museums named after L.A. Alexandrova, a partner of the festival.

Two projects from Dagestan won the grant contest organized by the Vladimir Potanin Foundation.

According to Patimat Aliskandieva, the director of the Gunib local history museum, her museum with the project "Tsarskaya Polyana, Art-Gunib" won the grant contest "The Changing Museum in a Changing World". Patimat Aliskandieva has also mentioned that this is the place where the Caucasian war ended.

The director of the Gunib local history museum has also noted that the project is aimed to form environmentally responsible behaviour in people. Tourist leave garbage in the Gunib Park, and medicinal herbs began to disappear there. It is planned to create mini-expositions about the importance of those places with historical associations and to conduct lectures on the topic.

Another project "Makhachkala in the Lists" has been initiated by the Museum of the History of Makhachkala. According to Naida Dibirova, the deputy director of the Museum, it is planned to create a navigation system along the historical centre of Makhachkala and to mark cultural and historical objects.
