Married couple accused of kidnapping a child in Rostov Region

Residents of the Volgograd Region are charged with kidnapping a child. Besides, a local woman is also accused of the death of her adopted son by negligence. This was reported by Natalia Kunitskaya, the spokesperson for the Investigating Department for the Volgograd Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 7, in the Rostov Region, a man and a woman kidnapped a three-year-old child and fled. On May 8, the boy was found in the Volgograd Region. The 48-year-old spouses suspected of the kidnapping, caring of five minor children, including four adopted ones, were arrested.

According to the investigators, the foster mother testified that the kidnapping of the boy was organized in order to conceal the disappearance of one of the adopted children, who died after receiving burns and was secretly buried.

"During the investigation, the criminal case initiated on the fact of the death of the suspects' adopted son was reclassified from Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder) to Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian   Federation (causing death by negligence.) The charge of committing the crime was filed against the foster mother of the deceased boy," reported Natalia Kunitskaya as quoted by the "Interfax".

Besides, both spouses are charged with kidnapping a minor child, reports Natalia Kunitskaya, the spokesperson for the ICRF's Department for the Volgograd Region.

The Articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation under which the charges are filed against the spouses provide for punishment of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
