Experts doubt existence of "Kadar" militant grouping in Dagestan

At present, there are no large groupings of militants in Northern Caucasus. The "Kadar" militant grouping, the killing of which leader in Dagestan was reported by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) of Russia, has been mentioned to attach importance to a special operation. This opinion was expressed by experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of May 12, a DPS checkpoint in Malgobek was attacked. One policeman was wounded, and two attackers were killed. One of the killed suspects was identified as Magomed Bekbuzarov, wanted for an attack on a police patrol car in Malgobek in April.

According to Akhmet Yarlykapov, Senior Researcher at the Centre for Ethnopolitical Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), at present, in Northern Caucasus, the existence of large groupings of militants is hardly possible.

"Without having the information that the police have, it is hard to say if the existence of the 'Kadar' or any other militant grouping is the truth or falsehood. Meanwhile, I would not use the words like 'a grouping'. At one time, the 'Imarat Kavkaz' (a terrorist organization banned in Russia by court), had large armed groupings. However, at present, much has changed. In fact, it has no active groupings anymore," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Akhmet Yarlykapov.

According to him, the so-called "Vilayat Kavkaz" (part of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia) failed to revive the military might.

The "Kadar" militant grouping acted until the late 1990's, and at the moment, it does not exist anymore, believes Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the RIA "Derbent".

"The mentioning of that grouping in reports looks more like a desire to attach additional importance to the fact of the killing of militants," Milrad Fatullaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
